Alto, Baritone, soprano sax; arranger; singer.
Born in Foligno (PG), Italy, in March 1969. Study with M. Mauro Zazzarini and later get a deeper knowledge of sax studying with Sal Nistico, Steve Grossman also by participating to seminars held by Mike Melillo.
In ‘92/’93 attend the International Course of specialization at the Ars Academy in Rome obtaining the Reward Diploma and participate, as a member of the Plovdiv Symphonic Orchestra in the role of Solo Soprano Sax, to a series of concerts dedicated to the composer Goffredo Petrassi, present himself in the concert-hall.
In 1995 has been classed first to the National Contest “Vito Di Lena” in the category “Jazz-Soloists“.
In 1996 achieve, with full marks, the Saxophone Diploma at the Academy of Music “O. Respighi “ in Latina where, in 1999, obtain with same marks the Specialization Diploma in “Jazz Music and Arrangement”. In 2006 take university bachelor with the superior course of specialization level 2 in Jazz Music, with a classification of 110/110.
Since 1989 lead an intense concert activity, as leader or solo, in Jazz (combos and Big Band) and Rhythm’ & Blues groups all over Italy and in New York, Berlin, Abu Dhabi, Bruxelles, Doha, Liege.
At this moment his preference goes on funk and blues music: he leads James Brown eight musician cover band the Jungle Groove and Funky Deepers, a funk quartet that dig into the 70’s funk music of The Meters, Maceo Parker and more, as well as the blues band Electric Mad’s; in each of those bands, he is also the singer.
But he did not forget jazz: he’s the co-leader, with the Swiss trumpet player Olivier Berney, of the HORACE-SCOPE quintet, wich play and try to re-create the amazing atmospheres of the Horace Silver’s quintets.
In his over twenty-year professional career, has collaborated and still collaborate actively with: Ron Seguin, Agostino Di Giorgio, Karl Potter, Cotton Club Jazz Band, Tutti Frutti Big Band, Mario Corvini, Claudio Corvini, Giampaolo Ascolese, Gerardo Iacoucci, Aldo Bassi, Olivier Berney, Arcadia band, Roma Testaccio Big Band, Jim Porto and even more.
He had an intense arrangement activity for different staffs and also in teaching in different schools (i.e. Centro Musicale, Accademia Musica & Musica, Liceo Musicale Pontino). In addition since six years is responsible for the Parish Band of Ventotene and co-director of the Euro Melody Arkestra.
